Uses for Vinegar

Who knew?


1] Remove bacteria and pesticide residue from produce Use 1 part vinegar to 3 parts water, wash produce thoroughly.

2] Clean windows and countertops - Use a 50% water and vinegar mixture to clean windows and countertops.

3] Remove shower and bathtub film - Use vinegar full strength on an old wash rag.

4] Toilet bowl stains - Use white distilled vinegar full strength with a scrubber.

5] Clean microwave - Utilize 1/4 cup of vinegar and 1 cup of water in a bowl. Place in the microwave and cook until boiling. Immediately wipe interior of microwave.


6] Wash no-wax floors - Add 1/2 cup of white distilled vinegar to a half-gallon of warm water. Mop or scrub floor.


7] Clean kitchen cutting boards - Use vinegar full strength on cutting boards.


8] Wash grass stains out of fabric - Use a 1/3 cup vinegar and 2/3 cup water mixture. Apply to stain and blot.


9] Remove molds and mildew - Use a 50% water and white vinegar mixture for light mildew stains, and full strength white vinegar to kill heavier mildew and mold growth.


10] Remove the water line in a flower vase.  Fill with half water and half white distilled vinegar or stuff a soaked paper towel in white distilled vinegar at the water line.


11] Remove coffee or tea stains from the bottom of a cup. Swish 2 tablespoons of vinegar around in the cup, then wash as usual. 


12] Make wool sweaters fluffier. Drop in a couple of capfuls of vinegar during the rinse cycle for an extra-soft feel. 


13] Deodorize a garbage disposal. Make vinegar ice cubes and feed them down the disposal. After grinding, run cold water through the drain. 


14] Remove stubborn price tags or stickers. Paint them with several coats of vinegar, let the liquid soak in for five minutes, then wipe away the residue. 


15] Kill weeds between cracks in paving stones and sidewalks. Fill a spray bottle with straight vinegar and spray multiple times. (Be careful not to get any on the surrounding grass, as it will kill that too.)


16] Remove berry stains on your hands by rubbing them with white distilled vinegar.


17] Help relieve a sunburn by putting regular vinegar (or apple cider vinegar) into a spray bottle and misting it onto the skin!


18] Remove sticker labels from bottles and containers... Just put vinegar onto a cotton ball and press the cotton ball against the label you want to remove for about 20 seconds, then wipe away the sticker!
