Hats Off to New Discoveries

Pooty Booty has started a routine of grabbing one item and making it his best friend for a day. Hence the Fedora hat on the two year old. He normally hates anything touching his head. If we want him to wear a hat, we have to force him, but today he wanted to wear one… this one...

This is a good thing...

This also makes him look like my Grandfather...

We spent the last week trying to make him interact more with the other kids. We've been pretty successful with it because on Wednesday, he helped pick up the blocks! But, on Thursday, one of the other children followed him down the hallway and tried talking to him and he started crying.

Anyway, today the house was really quite. It was just him and I. He loves days like this. We played music and danced in the kitchen. He can usually handle about 15 minutes of playtime with someone else before he has to wonder off and breathe. While wondering around the kitchen in his snazzy little hat, he stopped abruptly. He didn't move for a few seconds, the started bouncing on his legs. He stopped again and smiled, then lifted his arms up high.

He found his shadow!

Stupid camera died right when I grabbed it. GRRR. He doesn't quite understand what it is yet and he hasn't done it again since then, but he definitely saw it! I have been trying to make him focus on it for a while. Stubborn as he is, he probably knew it was there all along.

The more I watch him, the more I see that he has so much knowledge that is just begging to come out. Trouble is, he doesn't let us help him tap into it. He gets a huge thrill out of accomplishing things alone. So, while it may look like he's a step behind, he's actually two steps ahead. He simply refuses to let someone else take credit for his accomplishments ;)
