He has times when his senses get overloaded and he just cannot handle it, so he throws what looks like a tantrum, but is really an uncontrollable bodily takeover… he flaps his arms, pinches and slaps himself and me… We have chosen not to yell and fuss at these times, but instead to leave whatever situation we're in to calm him down. It works a lot better than trying to scare it out of him.
Mineaux- [mee-noo] That's the stray kitten we found.
She seems to be the key to opening Gabriel's affection for living things…
Nanny- My sister, Tracy
She's Gabriel's Nanny (God Mother) and she's also my Nanny. She's a strong woman whose been through a whole lot and still smiles every day.
OT- Occupational Therapy
This is the therapy session that Gabriel attends to work on his sensory skills
Parrain- Gabe's God Father, Trelyn
My sister's only son. He's the coolest parrain ever. Gabriel loves when he comes to visit!
Pooty Booty- Gabriel, the 2 year old hero
The coolest kid you'll ever meet and the best darn hugger on the planet.
Pop- My Father, Charles
Gabe doesn't get to see him as often as we would like, but he loves Pop's kisses because of the mustache ;)
Safe Spot- The place that Gabe goes to hibernate
One of the issues we are dealing with is Gabriel's lack of social skills. Whenever he gets nervous or we have people over, he will sneak off to a "safe spot." It changes every few weeks.
SI- Special Instructor
She comes in twice a month to help Gabriel out a little with everything in between speech and occupation.
Sleep- I don't know wtf that means.
Souls Never Wrinkle- The phrase I signed Gabriel's first letter with
Meaning no matter I old I get, my soul will remain young enough to understand him… no matter what he is going through.
